  • Lent.

Giving up watching videos online. So no more youtube, mysoju.com, apple.com/trailers, and whatever else I would use to watch videos. This also means I can't catch up on my tv shows if i miss an episode, so I would have to find a way to watch the tv show the day it airs or wait it out till sundays. I am hoping by doing this I will be more motivated to do other things besides sit on my butt in front of my computer all day. I hope I succeed because this will last all the way till Easter.

  • Last Day of ACL (Austin City Limits) Music Festival

Today was the last day of the festival and it was the BEST day out the entire weekend. All the acts I saw today were just AMAZING. I saw Priscilla Ahn, Tristan Prettyman, Stars, and Tegan and Sara. Every single one sounded exactly or better than their recordings.

Unfortunately this entry isn't about those AMAZING muscians I saw, it is about something that occured today which was pretty sad to observe.  (WARNING: IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SAD RIGHT NOW THEN PLEASE STOP READING THIS.

In order to get good "seats" to watch Tegan and Sara, we (my friends and I) set up camp really early at the stage they were performing on.  The band (Okkervil River) before them was performing and they had many fans because it was extremely crowded and the crowded extended really far back.  Well, there was this small group of friends sitting next to me.  The group consisted of a guy and two girls, one of them being the girlfriend.  The three of them looked about in their early twenties, this information isn't really important but I just thought to put it in here.  So Okkervil River is playing their music and the crowd is getting really into it and things are going pretty well where people are listening to the music, others talking amongst themselves, and others on their cell phones.  Then all the sudden the guy next me just collaspes to his knees, drops his cell phone, and has his forehead against the ground.  Everyone who saw this is, of course, was very concerned because there a multiple reasons for why he feel forward. Most people thought it was cause he was dehydrated so a few people offered to give him water while others offered to call 911 or to carry him to the medical station that wasn't located that far away from the stage we were located at.  I was thinking "HE IS HAVING A SEIZURE!" 1) He was conscienceous so that elminates fainting and 2) he was shaking, but he was able to reply to people so that eliminated my theory of a seizure as well.  As a few people are asking him or the girlfriend if they could be of assistance, the girlfriend just replies that he is okay and the guy just keeps asking for his cell phone.  A few mintues pass where the guy is still in the kneeling position and the girlfriend is trying to figure out what is wrong, but the guy just keeps pointing and asking for his cell phone.  The girlfriend began to look at the cell phone call history and text messages for any clues as to what is causing this, but she couldn't find anything.  Then I start to notice the guy is crying in his kneeling position and kinda of rubbing his forehead around in the dirt ground. ( ACL festival is located outside if you didn't know) Then it is pretty obvious that he is really really upset about something and the question now is "what is making him so upset?" (O, the whole time all this is happening the band is playing this really upbeat happy song)  The guy just stays in his kneeling postion for about 10mins and just cries and the poor girlfriend is not sure what is wrong and is trying to figure things out while consoling her boyfriend.  Eventually the guy gets up and I hear him say, " We have to go." and starts to walk away.  The girlfriend is still confused and just hurriedly packs up all their stuff and chases after him.  All of us who witnessed this were still confused and concerned but we couldn't do much because they left.  Later after the band is completely done with playing their set, this girl behind me who had offered her assistance to the guy and girlfriend pair earlier says, "when he was leaving he mouthed to me, my dad just died."  This explained it all.  I knew he didn't have a physical problem because he looked healthy and there wasn't any signs of extreme physical problems.  Also, he was crying so something really affected him emotionally and knowing that is was because he found out 10min ago his father passed away, just explains it all.  BUT isn't that just extremely heartbreaking? To be extremely happy at one moment then to recieve a text or phone call and your whole world just crashs right there. Also, it was just shocking to basically see a grown man fall to his knees and begin to cry.  That is just something you would see occur in a movie or tv show BUT I witness this happen with my own eyes in real life. After the shock passed out of me, I was pretty sad for awhile, knowing why he fell forward and having just witnessed him in a very vulnerable state.  Also, that fact that I wanted to help him and the girlfriend but both said they were fine and didn't need assistance.  I felt useless for a bit because I couldn't help them and all I was able to do was observe this guy basically roll his forhead around in the ground and cry.  Just so sad and I am still in shock that I saw what I saw.  I guess I just hope the guy and his girlfriend will be okay.  I mean there is really nothing else I can do.  It was just a heartbreaking site and it took me awhile to recover from it.  I did eventually get back into a happy state for the Tegan and Sara show. It helped that those two girls were funny and really good live. =)

I am not sure why I wrote this entry,  but I just needed to write about it.

  • So You Think You Can Dance

The top 20 has been selected and the first dances have been danced, so far I think this is going to be a good season. I really like this dancer, William Wingfield. He is AMAZING and creative. I am rooting for him to make it to the final of the show.

This weeks dances were pretty good, but again the choreographer Mia Michaels took my breathe away with her choreography.  The dancers, Chelsea and Mark, did an amazing job of the routine.  I got chills watching this routine which indicates that it is a really good routine and will be very memorable for this season.
